The Copper Canyon Grill in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront opened a new floating barge in the dining and entertainment development’s 9-acre lake, adding a waterfront dining and bar area with 58 additional seats, according to a press release from the restaurant. In addition to the barge, the restaurant has renovated its exterior and patio areas that lead to the barge and added a more casual menu for outdoor dining.
“We are so excited to be able to bring this unique addition to Copper Canyon Grill in Gaithersburg,” said David Jones, managing member of Blueridge Restaurant Group, which owns Copper Canyon Grill. “… After more than 20 successful years at this location, we wanted to add something new and special for our customers.”
The new barge will be covered and operate seasonally, according to the release. Once the weather gets too cold for use, the barge will close.
Renovation of the restaurant’s patio includes an outside service bar with a “fresh, new look,” the release said. Diners can also look forward to the addition of a new outdoor lounge area at the restaurant “very soon.”
Dirty Dough to open Rockville shop in December
Dirty Dough, a cookie shop that sells a myriad of rotating cookie flavors such as maple brown sugar oatmeal, Buckeye brownie and cookie butter, will open a new shop in Rockville Town Square in December, according to a media relations representative for the brand.
Representative Zachary Weiner told MoCo360 in an email the Dirty Dough team in Rockville is waiting for permit approvals from the county, but is planning to open the first week of December.
The timing “at the least should mean some amazing holiday cookies,” Weiner said.
The Rockville shop will be in Unit B at 36 Maryland Ave. – the former location of Berry Cup. The site is across from the Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant and the town square plaza.
Dirty Dough started in a dorm-room kitchen in Tempe, Arizona, and is now focusing on expansion across the country through franchising, according to the Dirty Dough website. There are two Dirty Dough shops in the state, in Laurel and Halethorpe, according to the Dirty Dough website. The brand also is planning to open a shop in Baltimore.
Nada closes in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose
After six years of serving modern Mexican fare in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose development, the restaurant Nada has closed permanently.
A sign on the door of the restaurant says, “Nada CLOSED. Thank you for six great years!” according to an Instagram story post by account moconights. The news was first reported by the MoCoShow.
Nada opened in November 2018 and was the chain’s fifth location and first on the East Coast, according to a 2018 announcement from Federal Realty Investment Trust, which owns Pike & Rose. The 6,300-square-foot restaurant included a bar and seating for 140.
The chain operates locations in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio, and Indianapolis, Indiana.
Nada did not respond to MoCo360’s request for comment via email. On the chain’s website, the Pike & Rose location has been removed as well as its Instagram account for the North Bethesda restaurant. Google has also marked the restaurant as “closed permanently.”
A corporate communications representative at Federal Realty did not immediately respond to MoCo360’s phone call request for comment Thursday morning.
