The Block Foodhall & Bar in Pike & Rose may close at the end of the month, according to Jay Wu, manager of OMA Sushi & Oyster Bar in the North Bethesda establishment.
Wu said Thursday that The Block’s management told him about the possible closing. He also said he was not given additional details.
The food hall at 967 Rose Ave. includes the Block Bar and OMA Sushi & Oyster Bar, along with numerous other Asian food vendors including Gong Cha, Kyoto Matcha and Kitch Hibachi. Other eateries include Little Miner Taco and 888 Cheesesteak.
Employees at Little Miner Taco and Kitch Hibachi also told MoCo360 that the food hall may close at the end of April.
The establishment opened in 2019 and also has a location in Annenberg, Virginia.
When contacted about the possible closure, spokesperson Debbi Mayster said Federal Realty, which owns the food hall, does not comment on lease-related matters. The Block did not respond to requests for comment via phone and email.
The Store Reporter originally reported in March that the food hall may be closing.
