Commas, a food hall with a dozen vendors, will open on the second level of downtown Silver Spring’s Ellsworth Place mall at 8661 Colesville Road next year.

GBT Realty Corporation and Cana Development, the developers behind the project, announced the food hall’s impending arrival in a press release Monday.

The food hall will be 13,000 square feet and will feature vendors serving Ethiopian, Korean, Malaysian, Salvadoran, Italian and American cuisine, according to the press release.

Commas will also include a bar that will offer happy hours, entertainment and a place for people to socialize.

The name Commas refers to the fact that the punctuation mark can be used to separate items in a list, which symbolizes “the myriad of ways to dine and get together.”

Commas is scheduled to open in the spring of 2022, according to a press release.

It is the latest in a series of food halls that have opened or are planned in Montgomery County. A food hall in Chevy Chase’s Wisconsin Place is also scheduled to open next year.
