Taco Eatery To Open in Woodmont Triangle

Fast-casual restaurant will feature tacos from around the world

A fast-casual taco restaurant will be opening early next year in the former Bold Bite space at the corner of Norfolk and Cordell avenues in downtown Bethesda.

The eatery will serve tacos from around the world, according to owner Kaz Kazmi, who signed the lease for the space this week. This will be the second restaurant for Kazmi, who spent most of his career in the telecom business. He founded, but no longer owns, Merzi, a fast-casual Indian restaurant in Washington, D.C.

An Ellicott City resident, Kazmi said he wants his new restaurant “to help address what’s happening in the world” by bringing people together through food.

A sign that Kazmi put in the window of his new space Saturday morning reads, “WTF, world class tacos.” Kazmi wouldn’t explain what WTF stands for. He said he actually has decided on a name for the restaurant, but that he’s not ready to reveal it.

Kazmi said new menu items will be introduced every three months and that beer and wine will be served. He’s hoping for a January opening.
