Olympic gold medalist Haley Skarupa, romance novelist Nora Roberts and Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh will be among the commencement speakers for Montgomery County Public Schools graduates this year.
MCPS on Tuesday added the speaker list to its website, where officials had already posted information about the school system's 32 graduation ceremonies.
Skarupa, who was part of the U.S. Women's Hockey team that won gold in this year's Winter Olympic Games, will address Thomas S. Wootton High School graduates on May 30. The athlete is a 2012 Wootton graduate.
Roberts, a Silver Spring native, will speak at the Montgomery Blair High School ceremony June 5 at XFINITY Center in College Park. Frosh is addressing the graduates from John F. Kennedy High School on June 7, and U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin is speaking at Albert Einstein High School's commencement on June 5.
Bethesda-Chevy Chase High will lead off the commencement season with a May 29 graduation at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Walter Johnson High seniors will cross the stage at XFINITY June 5. Winston Churchill High’s ceremony will take place June 6 at DAR, and Walt Whitman High’s senior class will have its ceremony June 8 at DAR.
The graduation ceremonies held at DAR will be streamed live online on the hall’s website.
