Montgomery County police said credit cards stolen from a woman shopping in a Bethesda grocery store were used to purchase about $6,100 worth of goods, including a $5,000 bicycle.
Police on Wednesday released surveillance camera photos of the man they said used the credit cards at stores in Rockville and Bethesda. Police said the purchase of the Santa Cruz brand mountain bike was made at a store in Bethesda. Police didn’t identify the store.
The 71-year-old victim told police she was buying groceries on July 21 when she realized her wallet was no longer in her purse.
Police said additional charges were attempted on the cards but declined.
Anyone with information about the suspect can call the Bethesda-based 2nd District police station at 240-773-6700. Callers may remain anonymous.
