Austin Grill Closes in Silver Spring

The restaurant posted a sign outside its downtown location saying 'adios amigos'

The last margarita has been mixed at Austin Grill in downtown Silver Spring.

The Tex-Mex restaurant on Ellsworth Drive closed sometime in the past week.

A sign posted on the patio outside the restaurant states, “Austin Grill and Tequila Bar wish Silver Spring a fond farewell and would like to thank you all for years of loyal patronage.” The sign also reads “adios amigos” and “gone fishing.”

The restaurant has been a fixture at the central Silver Spring commercial center since 2003. Reston, Virginia-based Thompson Hospitality, which owns Austin Grill as well as the American Tap Room concepts, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday about why the restaurant closed.

Austin Grill also has locations in Alexandria, Washington, D.C., and Springfield, Virginia.
