A new bakery—Just Chocolate Palace—is coming to the now 1-year-old Bainbridge Bethesda apartment building in Woodmont Triangle.
The bakery will fill a 1,200-square-foot space at 4918 St. Elmo Ave. and plans to open in October, according to Bainbridge’s leasing manager Joy Brock.
County records show the bakery applied for a construction permit Aug. 12 for the space. The bakery will fill one of the three retail locations at the new building. The other two, which are located along the building’s walkway between St. Elmo and Fairmont avenues have not been leased, according to Brock.
A business with the same name as the bakery recently closed at the Montgomery Village shopping center in Gaithersburg, according to a Yelp page. Bethesda Beat could not confirm Tuesday if the owner of the Gaithersburg spot—Peter Weerasinghe—is behind the Bethesda location.
The Gaithersburg bakery received several glowing reviews on Yelp. User Eileen B. wrote July 20: “I love everything Peter makes. He was not given the opportunity to renew his lease…if anyone know[s] where he has gone I would appreciate the information.”
