Meet the Team

Jennifer Farkas

Publisher

Jennifer Farkas first joined the organization in 2007. Before taking over as publisher, she held positions in art direction, marketing, sales and business development. Farkas holds a B.S. in fine arts from Towson University. She is a lifelong Montgomery County resident, currently residing in Kensington with her husband and two children.

Kathleen Seiler Neary

EDITOR, BETHESDA MAGAZINE

Kathleen Seiler Neary joined the organization in 2015 and has been a writer and editor for over 20 years. Her work includes roles at George, American Photo, and Ladies’ Home Journal, with writing in The Washington Post and Parenting. A Syracuse University magazine graduate, she lives with her family in Kensington.

Julie Rasicot

Editor, Bethesda Today

A veteran reporter and editor, Julie Rasicot has worked on the staff of newspapers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Montgomery County. She wrote or edited for a variety of publications, including The Washington Post and Bethesda Magazine. She has lived in Silver Spring with her family since 1995.

Amy Orndorff

MANAGING EDITOR

Amy Orndorff joined the organization in 2023 after nearly 20 years at The Washington Post. Born and raised in Rockville, she graduated from the University of Maryland in 2007 and lived briefly in D.C. before returning to her beloved suburb. She also serves as a volunteer firefighter, EMT and ambulance driver.

Jillian Lynch

Associate Editor

Jillian Lynch joined the organization in 2024. She handles calendars and lists, writes articles, and works with freelancers. She was a reporter and managing editor at the Daily News-Record of Harrisonburg earning Virginia Press Awards. She has a degree in international affairs from James Madison University and lives in Bethesda.

Olivia Sadka

Associate Art Director

Olivia Sadka joined the organization in April 2021. She designs print and digital projects, working across the departments. Sadka graduated from James Madison University in 2020 with a degree in media arts and design and a minor in art. She lives in Washington, D.C. and loves spending time traveling with her friends and family.

Ginny Bixby

Senior Reporter

Ginny Bixby joined the organization as a politics reporter in 2022 and was promoted to senior reporter in 2024. She was previously a reporter for The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, Virginia. She’s received awards from the Local Media Association, Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association, and Virginia Press Association.

Elia Griffin

Reporter

Elia Griffin grew up in Montgomery County and joined the organization in 2023. She currently lives in Washington, D.C. Elia was a photographer for the student newspaper at Montgomery Blair High Schoo and studied Journalism + Design at The New School in New York City. She has a passion for storytelling and local journalism.

Ashlyn Campbell

Reporter

Ashlyn Campbell joined the organization in 2024 as an education reporter and currently lives in Silver Spring. Campbell previously worked at The Daily News-Record in Harrisonburg covering education and graduated from James Madison University in 2023 after studying journalism and working for the student newspaper, The Breeze.

Josephine Jack

Digital Producer

Josephine Jack joined the organization as digital producer in 2024 managing the website, social media and newsletters. Jack is a DMV native and graduated from the University of Maryland in 2023 with a degree in journalism. She previously worked for Capital News Service and the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism.

Stacy Cantor

Director of Marketing and Events

Stacy has worked with top advertising agencies in New York and Los Angeles before relocating to the D.C. area. Stacy is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She has been a downtown Bethesda resident for over 15 years and lives with her partner, their two sons, and their spirited dog, Taco.

Amélie Ward

Advertising Operations Director

Amélie Ward joined the organization in 2017 working in web production, marketing and events before assuming her current role in 2021. She is responsible for the management of all print and digital ads. She graduated from Denison University in Ohio in 2013 and resides in Annapolis with her husband and daughter.

LuAnne Slagle Spurrell

Senior Account Executive

LuAnne “Lu” Slagle Spurrell, has over 30 years of advertising and marketing experience. She is passionate about her clients and loves to help them achieve their goals. Spurrell is an avid VOL fan who graduated from the University of Tennessee. She resides in Bethesda with her husband, and has two grown daughters.

Jeni Hansen

Account Executive

A native Washingtonian, Jeni has over 20 years of experience in managing public relations and community engagement campaigns. She graduated from Boston College, served on the BCAA Board of Directors, and serves as the Chair of the Black Alumnae Association at the National Cathedral School.

Mel Korobkin

Account Executive

Mel Korobkin joined the organization in 2021 and works with local businesses to build their brands and bring the community together. Korobkin was raised in Howard County and graduated from College of Charleston with a degree in sociology and communications. Korobkin lives in Bethesda with her husband, son and dog.

Peter Scott

Account Executive

Peter Scott has over 20 years of experience in the media industry with Saatchi & Saatchi, Fortune, Discovery, and Nexstar Media Group. His articles have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and other publications. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Georgetown University.

Mariam Bukhari

Sales and Marketing Coordinator

Mariam Bukhari joined the organization in 2024. She previously worked in automotive sales and as audience engagement editor for Capital News Service. Mariam is working towards her bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Maryland. Born in Pakistan, Mariam is a proud Montgomery County resident.

Onecia Ribeiro

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER

Onecia Ribeiro has been with the organization since 2015 managing customer service and subscriptions. Born and raised in India, Ribeiro graduated with a finance degree and spent several years in Dubai and London. She lives in Potomac with her husband and three sons, and enjoys traveling and exploring varied cuisines.
