Sunflower Bakery
Sunflower Bakery provides individuals with developmental/cognitive disabilities with on-the-job training so they can pursue employment in baking or related industries.
It offers an individualized 12-month program of onsite instruction by professional pastry chefs to about 15 individuals a year and partners with local employers who offer job preparedness, mock interviews and internships.
Trainees produce high-quality, kosher, non-dairy baked goods purchased by organizations, businesses, schools and individuals.

What a donation buys:
• $250 pays for necessary supplies such as ingredients, gloves, wraps, packaging or cleaning supplies for two weeks.
• $1,000 provides an internship stipend for one trainee for two months.
• $10,000 sponsors one trainee for the 12-month program, including onsite curriculum implementation and internship with stipend.
Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Hold a bake sale using Sunflower Bakery products to benefit the group, or introduce potential employers.
• Weekly: Work in the bakery washing dishes, answering the phone or providing hands-on assistance baking with trainees. Sell baked goods off-site alongside trainees.
