Shepherd’s Table Inc. serves more than 2,000 homeless individuals in the county every year, providing meals, clothing and bathing facilities, referrals, as well as technical assistance, to homeless individuals by pro bono lawyers, Veterans Administration staff, barbers and tax preparers who come in to assist clients.

It also runs a biweekly eye clinic to provide vision testing and prescription eyeglasses for the homeless and uninsured.

What a donation buys:
• $250 provides for prescription eyeglasses for five low-income, uninsured adults.
• $1,000 provides medical prescription assistance for 40 people.
• $10,000 covers the cost of 2,857 meals.

Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Volunteer as a dinner preparation worker and help greet guests, serve meals and clean the kitchen afterward.
• Weekly: Use your Spanish skills and help out at the Resource Center in distributing mail and bus tokens and providing clerical support.
