Women in Business Profiles

Katharine Vincent

Nurse Practitioner/Owner, DEFY Aesthetic

4401 East West Highway., Suite 205

Why do you do what you do? What motivates and inspires you?

I do what I do for my clients. They motivate and inspire me every day to provide the best skincare treatments possible. I’ve designed my office exclusively for them, and I genuinely care about every one of them like they’re family. I’ve created a comfortable, relaxed environment that defies the taboos and closed-door stigmas traditionally associated with cosmetic procedures. Self-care should be fun! I’ve crafted a unique menu that offers proven treatments I truly believe in. I’m determined to make these services accessible because they make people feel good about themselves. DEFY Aesthetic is a place that empowers women (and men too!) to feel their best.

What do you love most about doing business in this area?

Bethesda is home for me. I was born and raised in the area and have seen it flourish over the years. It’s the many family-owned and small businesses here that gives our area so much character. I can now say that DEFY Aesthetic is becoming part of Bethesda’s cultural fabric and I could not be more delighted. I’ve poured my heart and soul into DEFY Aesthetic and I love sharing what I’ve built with our beautiful community.

What woman inspires you and why?
My grandmother, Barbara, has been the most inspirational woman in my life. She established multiple woman-owned family businesses, all of which originated and are still headquartered here in Bethesda. She ran her businesses and a household—two full-time jobs simultaneously—at a time when women weren’t necessarily supposed to be businesswomen. She is my Superwoman! I like to think that I’m continuing her legacy and making her proud.
