Q: Why did you choose workplace disputes and whistleblowers as a specialty area?
A: Whistleblowers and victims of harassment and discrimination often feel as if no one is on their side. It is so gratifying to help my clients – both individuals and businesses – resolve problems whether it’s through negotiation or litigation. I’m proud to have helped federal and state governments recover over $700 million in False Claims Act/Qui Tam cases.
I pride myself on actively listening to my clients to truly understand not just their predicament, but to help shape the best resolution. I find it incredibly rewarding to be an ally for my clients throughout what might be a difficult legal battle. Helping clients understand the law, their options and getting great results is why I love what I do.
Q: What do your clients need to know about you?
A: After resolving a hotly contested whistleblower case, I received an unexpected gift from my client. It is a plaque that reads: “The Best Lawyer a Client Could Ever Have.” The plaque is a reminder of the importance of serving as a loyal ally, protector and advocate for my clients. The process and “legalese” can be daunting. My job is to make sure they understand the process and their options. You can be passionate without arrogance. I maintain a healthy dose of humility which is appreciated by my clients and helps achieve their goals. As C.S. Lewis said, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.”
