Q: The COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for our marriage. What are our options?

A: You have many options. There may need to be a “cooling-off” period to help couples decide if they really want to separate or divorce. If you do wish to separate or file for divorce, you should think about seeking legal advice right away. Note that courts may be closed or backed up, so there may be considerable delays in court resolutions of matters. There are out-of-court settlement processes, such as mediation, collaborative practice and lawyer negotiation, and there’s no reason why you cannot start one of these processes now, as all are available remotely and online. I am trained and experienced in these approaches and ready to work with you.
