National Center for Children and Families

National Center for Children and Families is a comprehensive child, youth and family service organization supporting more than 3,000 clients struggling with poverty, homelessness, abuse, neglect and domestic violence throughout the region. Its programs provide emergency shelter for the homeless, transitional housing support for those getting back on their feet, foster care and adopted services, after-school and preschool instruction, and other support programs.

What a donation buys:
• $250 provides three daily meals for a foster youth for 21 days or new back-to-school clothing and essentials for a homeless youth living in the shelter.
• $1,000 pays for the full summer camp tuition for two low-income youths or provides sporting equipment for NCCF’s Youth Activities Center.
• $10,000 covers half of the apartment rental fee for a family transitioning out of a shelter for one full year, provides 10 computers for classrooms or provides scholarships for a foster youth to attend three semesters at Montgomery College.

Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Volunteer as a guest speaker for the Dinner Series, to reach out to foster youth about everyday life, work, special skills, etc. Or help decorate and landscape NCCF’s facilities and residential units.
• Weekly: Become a youth mentor.
