Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless Inc.

Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless Inc. provides a wide range of support services and housing options for 1,600 homeless individuals and families each year, so that they can move out of shelters and into housing leased in their own names.

To end homelessness in the county, it coordinates ongoing advocacy efforts, legislative alerts, public outreach, program coordination, annual conferences and educational meetings.

What a donation buys:
• $250 covers the cost of two weeks of summer camp for children exiting homelessness in the Partnership for Permanent Housing program.
• $1,000 provides vocational training such as heating and air-conditioning repair and commercial driver’s license certification programs in the Back-to-Work program.
• $10,000 allows 55 mentally ill clients in the Safe Haven program to receive two months of psychiatric care from a licensed psychiatrist.

Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Participate in Help the Homeless Mini Walks or coordinate a mini-walk at your school, club or business.
• Weekly: Prepare and deliver meals to the men’s shelter.
