Metropolitan Community Development Corp. works with the growing African community in Montgomery County to provide services such as food distribution for families at risk of hunger, workforce development for the unemployed, and academic enrichment programs for children.
This past summer, MCDC ran a camp for 42 children from the African immigrant community whose families could not otherwise afford it.

What a donation buys:
• $250 provides snacks for 10 children at an eight-week Multicultural Summer Enrichment Camp.
• $1,000 covers transportation and admission for 20 youths to visit an amusement park.
• $10,000 pays for 20 children to attend the eight-week enrichment camp, including transportation costs.
Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Help distribute supplies and clothing to people in need.
• Weekly: Volunteers 13 and older can serve as counselors-in-training in the summer camp for six to eight weeks.
