Mental Health Association of Montgomery County
Mental Health Association of Montgomery County promotes mental wellness and supports those with mental illness by sponsoring and implementing advocacy, education and community service programs. Ten major programs serve 6,400 county residents of all ages, offering services for free or at a significantly reduced fee.
Programs include mentoring at-risk youth, support for formerly homeless adults, visits for isolated seniors. All services are provided under the supervision of professional staff with support from approximately 750 volunteers.

What a donation buys:
• $250 covers the cost for five parents to improve parenting skills through support groups and classes.
• $1,000 allows a family to receive 15 counseling sessions.
• $10,000 provides an acculturation and reunification program for new immigrant and refugee families.
Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Volunteer as a violence prevention speaker or as a presenter on a mental health topic. Provide office support for an educational event.
• Weekly: Volunteer as a computer skills instructor, an English conversation group facilitator, an ESOL instructor, or a tutor.
• Ongoing: Volunteer as a mentor for a foster child or other at-risk youth, a hotline worker or a visitor to those isolated in their homes due to medical conditions.
