Maryland Vietnamese Mutual Association provides linguistically and culturally appropriate services to isolated Vietnamese-American seniors, struggling Vietnamese-American parents, and immigrants of all backgrounds seeking citizenship.

It serves more than 140 children, parents and seniors each year with case management, English language lessons and parenting enrichment services.

What a donation buys:
• $250 provides two hours of support and programs for 20 low-income isolated seniors at a local senior center.
• $1,000 covers the cost of 10 translators to help health care providers offer free screenings to 50 uninsured individuals.
• $10,000 supports the salary for one AmeriCorps member to provide 1,700 hours of services to clients, including outreach to isolated seniors, English and citizenship classes, health care referrals and help with housing/food applications.

Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Provide support at a special event, such as the Academic Awards Picnic, a field trip, or a health fair.
• Weekly: Provide assistance to senior citizens needing translation and transportation services.
