Since 1973, the Greater Washington Community Foundation has ignited the power of philanthropy to address critical community needs, directing $1.7 billion in charitable investments toward building an equitable, just and thriving region. Now, through the Together, We Prosper campaign, The Community Foundation is working to increase economic mobility to help close the region’s racial wealth gap.
One key initiative is Brilliant Futures, a children’s savings pilot program providing up to $1,000 in annual savings from kindergarten through 12th grade to 400 students at two schools in priority Montgomery and Prince George’s county neighborhoods. The program will help students build assets that can be redeemed when they graduate for further education and training, homeownership, entrepreneurship or retirement.
