Life is full of serendipitous moments, and it’s up to us to embrace them. Montgomery County native Dan Price has always been entrepreneurial-minded, so when a friend called in 2015 to ask if he wanted to buy his BrightStar Care franchise in Leesburg, Va. after some research, Price said yes. “I liked the story—that BrightStar was the premium provider, a higher standard in the home care world,” he said. “It resonated with me.”

Price spent the previous decade raising honeybees and operating a cut flower farm he’d purchased in 2003, after selling his tech company. Through his Sweet Virginia Foundation nonprofit, he’s helped educate more than 10,000 elementary students on honeybees’ vital role in sustainability and donated nearly 250,000 flowers to local assisted living communities. Helping older adults, Price realized, was a tangible way for him to make a difference in people’s lives.
Since 2015, he’s expanded across the Washington Metropolitan area, most recently in Montgomery County, growing BrightStar Care into the region’s largest premium home care provider.
