Aveda
Take one look at stylist Katie McClure and you’ll know that Aveda is the place to go for a cutting-edge ’do. Red is in these days, and McClure has long enjoyed a copper color in her hair. She’s about to try a more violet-tinted red, though. “It’s edgier, and that’s the trend right now,” she says. McClure’s classic bob is in fashion, too, except that hers is shorter in the back and longer in the front than the traditional cut. Bangs—either straight across or to the side—are trendy, especially among younger clients, she says. Not that she advises following styles slavishly: If a dark-haired client with an olive complexion wants to go blond, she’ll explain the risks. She and the 13 other stylists at Aveda attend regular training sessions to keep up with the latest looks. The salon also is popular for its early appointments, starting at 6 a.m. several days a week.
A basic woman’s haircut with McClure starts at $85 and a single color treatment is $90.
