Persimmon
Nearly every day of the week, one couple or another comes in to Persimmon to celebrate their anniversary.
Chef-owner Damian Salvatore, 46, knows of a customer who even proposed to his future wife at the small neighborhood bistro. “And they’ve been here every year for their anniversary,” he says.
Manager Phil Solomon says that couples celebrating their anniversary get champagne on the house and a candle on their dessert. For lovebirds, “we try to hold certain tables in quieter locations,” he says.
Salvatore’s cozy American bistro—which he acknowledges can be “a little bit raucous at times”—opened in 1998 and has won the Bethesda Magazine Best Restaurant award three times in a row.
