These are just a few examples of wall murals that have shown up recently on buildings and structures old and new around the county. Cities such as New York, L.A. and San Francisco are known for their vibrant street art and Instagram-worthy murals. Montgomery County is following the trend with murals in a variety of styles. Some of the artwork is commissioned by developers who get zoning benefits in return for providing public art. Other pieces are ordered by the county or private property owners to draw attention to their buildings and the communities that surround them.
