Grosvenor Market
When people hear about a grocery store tucked into the first floor of a high-rise apartment building, they usually figure it’ll sell bagels, milk, soda—maybe bananas, says Grosvenor Market owner Scot Shuck. But when first-timers get about 15 feet into his market in the Grosvenor Park housing complex, Shuck will often hear them say, “Wow, this is a lot more than I expected!”
That’s because the 45-year-old market is a full-service store, selling beer, wine and specialty items, as well. Top departments feature fresh meats and local seasonal produce.
But what makes Grosvenor Market a truly special place is the personalized service and camaraderie. “I know a lot of people by name,” Shuck says of his customers. “It’s a really nice way to do business.”
