Amethyst owner Amy Hugo features her own jewelry creations as well as those of 25 other designers.
Hugo took a risk opening her store at the height of the recession in 2008, but it paid off: She since has expanded into a larger space, adding new designers such as Alberto Parada of D.C. Hugo says she mainly focuses on jewelry that is worth the investment. “[It] needs to be fashion-forward but not too trendy.”
Jewelry here ranges from diamond-encrusted peace symbols by Lika Behar to exquisite diamond wedding sets by Stephanie Albertson. If you have your own creation in mind, Hugo and her team will custom design it or they can rejuvenate and update your old bling.
The necklace pictured above is by Sophia Forero ($930) and features labradorite, sterling silver, garnets, sapphires and citrine.
