Best Dog Park

Cabin John Regional Park

“This is my favorite dog park,” Tena Baker says as Biggie, her poodle-Chihuahua mix, romps around the mulch at Bethesda’s Cabin John Regional Park. “We have one close to home in Wheaton, but it doesn’t have the comforting separation of small dogs from larger ones.”

Space designated for large and small canines is a major attraction of the popular one-acre dog park, which also offers tall trees for shade and is open from sunrise to sunset (though it’s closed for maintenance from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays). Another perk: free waste disposal bags.

To use all five county-run dog parks, residents pay $40 a year for one dog and $5 for each additional one.
