Participants learn how to buy and stay in their homes, advocate for better rental property conditions, and start or expand small businesses.
Since the economic crisis, the majority of LEDC’s work in Montgomery County has focused on foreclosure prevention, including individualized counseling to more than 500 struggling homeowners, with 95 percent of resolved cases avoiding foreclosure.

What a donation buys:
• $250 provides a scholarship for one person to attend a business skill development course.
• $1,000 covers the cost of obtaining credit reports for 50 at-risk homeowners.
• $10,000 funds six months of ads to alert residents to the dangers of foreclosure assistance scams.
Volunteer opportunities:
• One day: Volunteer at a festival or event and help educate people about LEDC’s services.
