We are looking for a Media Director to join our team. The Media Director is the senior media management representative on all HZ media client business. The MD must show dedicated leadership and ultimate ownership over all client relationships and media plans/executions. They are expected to provide strong, dedicated leadership and constant, direct support of the media team. They need to proactively foster media team growth - on an individual by individual basis and as a structured, cohesive team. The MD must build and maintain integration - internally at HZ and with outside partner agencies and vendors.

Required Media Expertise:

  • 12 - 15 years media and management experience
  • Full service agency experience is a must
  • A thorough understanding of advertising, marketing and media inclusive of underlying disciplines including but not limited to: psychology, economics, journalism, marketing, PR, experiential, alternative and guerilla marketing/media
  • Experience across a wide variety client types - different industries, government, non-profit, barter, etc.
  • Heavy digital media experience (including but not limited to search, mobile, social, etc.) with an underlying comprehension of all traditional media (newspaper, magazine, broadcast, OOH, etc.)
  • Recognition of how different media is planned, placed and performs independently and together
  • Proactive interest in understanding and communicating the ever changing media landscape
  • Proven performance in new business wins and maintenance
  • Detailed comprehension of business aspects of media (contract writing, staffing plans, investment in needed media planning/buying systems/tools)

  • Effective leadership of strategic planning and all aspects of plan execution
  • Entrepreneurial in spirit and action
  • Ability to set and maintain process and to train and inspire the media team
  • Hire and manage media team efficiently and effectively
  • Energy to educate - clients and internally at HZ - on media team capabilities
  • Resourceful use of nonstandard methods of media research, planning & execution
  • Interest in using media in non-traditional, breakthrough ways
  • Excellent problem solver
  • Ability to communicate in written form and verbally in a clear and concise manner both internally and client facing; must be articulate, confident, passionate & succinct
