Chinese Culture and Community Service Center

Chinese Culture and Community Service Center (ccacc-dc.org) brings the community together by providing a variety of services for seniors, youths, low-income, non-native English speakers, and any individuals in need. Built from a strong community base embracing the core values of caring, serving and thriving, key programs include the Senior Nutrition Program, Adult Literacy Program (ESOL), Senior Chinese Tech Classes, and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

• $500 funds a one-time COVID vaccine outreach event in a hard-to-reach community.
• $1,000 supports three or more ESOL classes, directly benefiting 60 adult students.

Guru Gobind Singh Foundation

Guru Gobind Singh Foundation (ggsfusa.org) runs a community kitchen based on the Sikh principles of helping those in need. Since March 2020, GGSF has prepared and distributed 250,000-plus fresh vegetarian meals to county residents. GGSF provides other support through vaccine clinics, community health screenings, and provision of produce, non-perishables, clothing items, school supplies and feminine hygiene products. GGSF also partnered with Montgomery Food Security Task Force to help pack 550,000-plus pounds of rice, beans and lentils into family size packs, reaching over 10,000 families on a weekly basis.

• $51 feeds a family of four with fresh meals, produce, milk, bread and non-perishables.
• $501 feeds 10 families.
• $5,001 sponsors a Sunday distribution for over 400 families.

Impact Silver Spring

Impact Silver Spring (impactsilverspring.org) aims to achieve a racially and economically equitable Montgomery County through building and sustaining community-based, equity-focused spaces where people and organizations can take collaborative action. IMPACT believes that achieving true equity requires transformation at the personal/interpersonal, neighborhood and systems levels.

What a donation buys:

• $250 provides equipment for one team of low-income youths participating in IMPACT’s soccer program, enabling this program to remain free of charge.
• $1,000 provides interpretation support for multiracial community events on racial justice.
• $10,000 provides supplies and equipment to support four resident-led community gardens in low-income neighborhoods.

Volunteer opportunities:

• As needed: Teach English as a second language classes.
• As needed: Volunteer as a youth soccer coach (minimum age 18).


Montgomery County Food Council

Montgomery County Food Council (mocofoodcouncil.org) leads more than 2,000 partners in communitywide education, advocacy and capacity building initiatives to cultivate a more resilient, sustainable and equitable local food system. The organization enhances food access for more than 100,000 people at risk of hunger, expands food education opportunities, supports county farms and food and beverage businesses, and addresses food system impacts on natural resources.

What a donation buys:

• $50 supports a convening of the county’s consolidation hubs to share resources, coordinate services and address food access challenges.
• $250 provides a three-month stipend for one board member with lived food insecurity experience to serve as a community advocate and resource navigator.
• $500 supports the coordination of the Farm to Food Bank Program, which distributes diverse foods from county farms to residents through local food assistance providers.

Nonprofit Montgomery

Nonprofit Montgomery (nonprofitmoco.org) works to strengthen the nonprofit sector through leadership development, organizational capacity building, advocacy, strategic communications and cross-sector problem solving. Through the organization’s trainings, nonprofit leaders gain vital knowledge and tools to achieve financial sustainability, strengthen staff-board partnerships, and measure work to make a deeper impact. Nonprofit Montgomery is the backbone organization for Montgomery Moving Forward, a cross-sector collaborative that seeks economic opportunity for all.

• $100 provides one year of membership for an emerging nonprofit.
• $300 provides a nonprofit with two hours of consultation with a finance or evaluation expert.
• $500 provides a nonprofit management workshop for up to 15 people.

Nonprofit Village

Nonprofit Village (thenonprofitvillage.org) builds the capacity and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by offering shared space, back-office services and amenities, and collaborative opportunities to help nonprofits save time and money. Nonprofit members take advantage of intensive educational and business development programs, public trainings, office services and resource referrals, serving more than 300 nonprofits in the area.

Serves: Montgomery County and satellite location for nonprofits in the metropolitan region

What a donation buys:

• $250 provides professional consulting for a member nonprofit.
• $1,000 provides one organization with community level membership benefits for a year.
• $10,000 provides a yearlong development program for a cohort of nonprofits and employee engagement opportunities for the sponsor.

Volunteer opportunities:

• One day: Share expertise in marketing, finance or leadership development.
• Weekly/monthly: Provide short term coaching in a specific field to nonprofit members.
