To wrap up this unprecedented year, we’re transforming our three locations into unique expressions of Pantone’s Color of the Year 2020 Classic Blue. From earth to water to air, each location will present a distinct, elemental experience related to the unique qualities of the color. Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit. The new installations seek to do the same; centering our thoughts and fostering resilience.
Inspired by blue’s dependability, “Crystalline” at ARTECHOUSE DC explores the color’s connection with earth and crystals through a journey that is both an adventure and a meditation—an exploration through an illusory, blue-hued castle. Representative of our desire for a stable foundation that often feels out of reach during these turbulent times, this surreal yet familiar place offers guests a refuge from the everyday. Discover creative curiosities in each room as you learn more about your surroundings and yourself. Submerge yourself in the sights, sounds and sensations of Classic Blue.

Celebrate the Holidays from Home with Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Virtual Festival of Trees @ KennedyKrieger.org/FestivalofTrees | | |

All is sure to be merry and bright this holiday season as the 31st annual Festival of Trees returns from Friday, November 27 to Sunday, November 29, 2020. With the health and safety of festival-goers being of utmost concern, Kennedy Krieger Institute will transform the iconic holiday event from a three-day in-person gathering to a hybrid experience.

Although modified from previous years, the event still benefits the over 25,000 children and families that Kennedy Krieger serves each year and will feature unique, custom-decorated artificial trees that will be available for purchase online, live virtual entertainment opportunities for the whole family, online shopping with hundreds of gift options from hand-selected vendors, and an online auction site with many one-of-a-kind items. Tree and wreath sales, the auction and a vendor gift marketplace will be available online, around-the-clock, throughout the weekend. Attendees can also participate in timed, fun, interactive activities and entertainment for all ages each day, and there will be special surprises for families to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.

And, this year, talented tree-designers will create their masterpieces at pre-registered times, with expanded, socially-distanced space to decorate trees at the Cow Palace within the Timonium Fairgrounds. Their final masterpieces will then be featured on the special event website for the public to view and purchase. All health and safety protocols will be followed to make this a safe and fun experience for all, whether decorating a tree or enjoying the online entertainment, auction or gift marketplace.

General admission tickets for the event this year are FREE and the virtual format allows families from near and far to experience the magic of Festival of Trees.
