Join Girls Who Start for the Inaugral Design Challenge Hackathon!
Our goal is to bring together middle and high school students interested in building something cool, with the opportunity to win prizes and meet new people!

2020 Design Challenge: To create an environmentally sustainable product or app for the home.

Who can attend?
The Design Challenge Hackathon is open to all middle and high school students! Students of all skill levels are encouraged to attend! There will be a community of students to support you through the event and the goal is to learn something new while making new friends! No experience and any prep necessary!

Prizes: 1st place: $1,500, 2nd place: $500

How to Sign Up:

> Register as a TEAM: Register with the number of members (3-5) and your team name

> Register to JOIN A TEAM: Register for 1 and we will assign you to a team
Registration closes on February 20th!

Schedule of Events

9AM-12PM: Product Idea Generation, Prototyping in Lab, and Patent Check


1-4PM: Pitch Development, Pitch to Judges, and Award Ceremony

Join us for a family and dog friendly 5k run/walk. Every dollar goes directly to the Oral Cancer Foundation that raises and money for this awful disease. There will be raffle tickets sold on site for your chance to win autographed items from Caps/Wizards/Nationals, gift certificates to local hotels/restaurants, tickets to Nats/Caps game, teeth whitening, etc. Coffee and light fare will be available. Photobooth. Bathrooms on site. Playground close by. Come out and get those steps in for a GREAT cause. We can’t wait to see you!
