Join us for a captivating, virtual Drawing & Water Media Art Exhibition opening online from Sept. 5 through Dec. 1 2020. Each Labor Day weekend the Friends of the Yellow Barn artist members and studio instructors exhibit their works at the Yellow Barn Gallery in Glen Echo Park, to express mark making and line quality in all styles of realism and abstraction. This year the Drawing show has expanded to include all water based media work, and will be held online on our new virtually gallery! The online show recognizes the importance of drawings skills and use of water based media in paintings. To view the show please visit our Friends website at: www.friendsoftheyellowbarnstudio.org

The media on exhibit includes: color pencil, charcoal, graphite, ink, watercolor, gouache, and mixed media. A People’s Choice prize award of $250 will be awarded to a member of the Friends, and to a Yellow Barn instructor. Viewers have a chance to vote for their favorite works online from Sept 5 through Oct.5th. The winners will be awarded and highlighted in the gallery show, through the close of the show.

To wrap up this unprecedented year, we’re transforming our three locations into unique expressions of Pantone’s Color of the Year 2020 Classic Blue. From earth to water to air, each location will present a distinct, elemental experience related to the unique qualities of the color. Imprinted in our psyches as a restful color, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue brings a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit. The new installations seek to do the same; centering our thoughts and fostering resilience.
Inspired by blue’s dependability, “Crystalline” at ARTECHOUSE DC explores the color’s connection with earth and crystals through a journey that is both an adventure and a meditation—an exploration through an illusory, blue-hued castle. Representative of our desire for a stable foundation that often feels out of reach during these turbulent times, this surreal yet familiar place offers guests a refuge from the everyday. Discover creative curiosities in each room as you learn more about your surroundings and yourself. Submerge yourself in the sights, sounds and sensations of Classic Blue.
