Our gardening conference focuses on helping you create and maintain sustainable gardens to enjoy now and for years to come. This day-long event is open to the public and offers multiple presentations by Master Gardeners. Sentimental Journey Singers is a choir for adults diagnosed with early to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and other memory struggles and their care partners offered by Encore Creativity for Older Adults. The choir will meet Mondays from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Mondays from March 9 through April 28 for singing instruction and rehearsals with a professional conductor and music therapist. After the 8-week session, the choir will perform in a concert on May 2. Tuition is $104 and $25 for care partners. Painting with acrylics is the most versatile and exciting for any beginner painter. In this 8 week course, you’ll learn not only how to creatively express your vision but the fundamentals of art such as color theory, perspective, composition, figure to ground relationships, and visual concepts. What comes to mind when you think of insects with feathery antennas, nocturnal lifestyles, and silky cocoons? Moth species of the Lepidoptera family come with many adaptations, some include not developing a mouth after their caterpillar phase. Join us at zooming into the tiny world of moths where you’ll learn about their marvelous colorful features and sizes up to 12 inches down to micromoths of 0.1 inch. Dr. David Adamski, Research Associate at Department of Entomology of the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History, will bring various specimens from around the world that will demonstrate their morphology.

Combine your curiosity for hand built ceramics with your love for home accessories! Spend 8 weeks with ceramist Susan Stack to develop the necessary skills to build your very own assortment of household adornments from spoon rests to soap dishes, napkin holders, plaques, and more! You’ll learn how to transform clay by carving, stamping, burnishing, using the sgraffito method, and glazing! Class fees include instruction, all materials and firing in our studio. Class meets for 8 sessions. There is no class Apr. 10th, 17th, & 24th.
