Back for 2020! Montgomery Parks’ Eye Spy Trains will be running at both Cabin John Train and Wheaton Train and Carousel through our April Weekends. Will you be able to find ’em all? An activity that is great for families, each child under 2 rides free with a paying adult. The trains will run from 10a-6p and tickets can be purchased online and in-person at Cabin John and just in-person at Wheaton for $4 during Weekends in April and the week of April 6-13 (MCPS Spring Break). Tickets can be purchased online at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org or onsite the day of for Tickets for Cabin John’s Eye Spy Trains. Tickets for Wheaton’s Eye Spy Trains can only be purchased in-person.

Green Meadows Farm will be hosting Easter Egg Hunts on April 4-5 and April 9-12, 2020. We will have 3 hunts each day (11am, 1pm, 3pm) and will have the areas sectioned by age (1-3, 4-6, 7-12). Our Easter Bunny, Whiskers, will also be here! All children hunting must be signed up before the hunt begins so arrive early! Bring your own basket or buy one from us. No reservation is required, just buy a ticket at the entrance (and register your child at that time). Cost is $14.00 per person, ages 2 and above (this includes adults, too!). Admission includes the free hunt as well as our regular petting farm fun (cow milking, hayride, free goat feed, pig races). Our farm opens at 9:30am on weekdays and opens 10:00 am on weekends. Admission allowed on all days until 4:00 pm but we close at 5:00 pm. Please visit our website for more important details. Hope to see you there!

Looking for a little adventure? Follow the clues as you hike around Cabin John Park to solve a new nature-themed puzzle each month.

This month, hunt for colorful eggs hidden along a trail through the woods. Exchange the eggs you find for a prize. Learn about the beautiful diversity of our native birds’ eggs through a special exhibit in our Program Room.

INSTRUCTIONS for this special edition of Hike & Seek: Due to the popularity of this program, you *must* be pre-registered; we cannot accept drop-ins. To help us manage crowds, please register for a specific time slot.

Natural surface trails are not stroller accessible. Severe weather cancels the program. Please register everyone in your group.

Join us for a family and dog friendly 5k run/walk. Every dollar goes directly to the Oral Cancer Foundation that raises and money for this awful disease. There will be raffle tickets sold on site for your chance to win autographed items from Caps/Wizards/Nationals, gift certificates to local hotels/restaurants, tickets to Nats/Caps game, teeth whitening, etc. Coffee and light fare will be available. Photobooth. Bathrooms on site. Playground close by. Come out and get those steps in for a GREAT cause. We can’t wait to see you!

It features over 1,000+ hands-on activities exploring space, robotics, genomics, climate, medicine and more; incredible stage shows; and science stars such as Dr. Kate Biberdorf AKA “Kate The Chemist,” Science Educator Justin Shaifer, and America’s Science Teacher Steve Spangler.

Take your pottery skills to the next level with more advanced pinch pot, slab and coil projects using new hand-building techniques.

Adult participation and previous experience in Family Pottery with CREATE are required. Fee includes participation for 1 child and 1 adult. Class meets for 5 sessions.

Spend some quality time as a family exploring the world of clay! Whether your clay creations are purely decorative or practical pieces, you’ll treasure the time you spend working both independently and as a family. Explore clay construction (pinch, coil, and slab — all hand building; no wheel), and various glaze finishes. Projects are fired in a kiln on our premises, and students will take home several finished pieces. Younger children will need their adult pottery partner to assist through part of the process, which is part of the fun you’ll have together!

Fee includes participation for 1 child and 1 adult. Class meets for 5 sessions.

The Tree House Tour de Cookie is The Tree House’s annual non-competitive, family-friendly, fun-filled bike ride. Riders choose between 12, 18, 27, or 43 mile courses to ride, stopping at cookie stands to collect treats along the way. This year The Tree House Tour de Cookie is scheduled for May 2, 2020 and will be located at Johns Hopkins University Montgomery County Campus. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of child abuse prevention and promote the services offered by The Tree House. All proceeds of The Tree House Tour de Cookie benefit The Tree House, enabling us to better serve our clients. It is a wonderful occasion during which individuals, families, and groups can enjoy a day of fun, festivities, philanthropy, and COOKIES!
