Waterkeepers Chesapeake - In Defense of Water 2020 @ Online

Our 4th annual In Defense of Water is going virtual to keep everyone safe and healthy during this global pandemic. We hope you will join us on Thursday, September 24th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm for this Virtual Celebration of Clean Water Advocacy, an evening to celebrate our clean water successes and raise awareness of our work making our local waters drinkable, swimmable and fishable for everyone. We will honor a local community clean water champion with our Water Warrior Award and one of our Waterkeepers with the Waterkeeper Outstanding Win (WOW) Award. We’re still working on our creative lineup – but you can expect special guests, music, a signature drink, and beautiful footage of the local rivers, streams and bays we all love so dearly. The event is free! Please RSVP to receive a link a few days prior to the event.

Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Annual Hats & Horses Event @ Online

On September 25, 2020, Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) is hosting its popular derby-themed Hats & Horses event virtually. Guests are encouraged to dress in their derby-best or whatever makes them comfortable for an evening of raising funds for and in celebration of the expansion of Kennedy Krieger’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury.

Typically an exclusive $250 event, this year’s fundraiser will take place at 7 p.m. and is open for all to participate, free of charge. Emmy award-winning WBFF-TV anchor and reporter Mary Bubala will emcee the event and usher through the evening’s activities. Guests can expect powerful storytelling, compelling moments of hope, mixology lessons and friendly competition from the comfort of their own home— all to benefit an important cause.

Held annually, Hats & Horses is WIN’s largest fundraising event, and brings much-needed resources to vital programs at Kennedy Krieger. This year’s event will support the expansion of the Institute’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury through the purchase of a G-EO System™, a sophisticated robotic device that simulates the experience of walking for people experiencing paralysis, offering them opportunities for movement and providing them with profound therapeutic benefits.

All are welcome and encouraged to sport their fanciest hats and bow ties in honor of the patients impacted by Kennedy Krieger’s International Center for Spinal Cord Injury.
