Dwelling Place Inc. provides transitional housing and support services for about 25 homeless families each year, helping them move toward self-sufficiency.

Its programs are designed to keep families together, give clients the personal attention they need to address the issues that led them to homelessness, and to help families achieve and maintain stable housing.

What a donation buys:
• $250 covers the cost of backpacks and school supplies for five children.
• $1,000 pays for four new sets of mattresses and box springs.
• $10,000 pays the rent on a three-bedroom apartment to house one family for six months.

Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One weekend: Help furnish a home for a formerly homeless family moving out of a shelter.
