CareerCatchers provides one-on-one career counseling and job-skills training for 260 unemployed and underemployed adults in the county annually.
Its customized approach helps low-income and limited-English-speaking clients obtain employment that pays a living wage, fosters self-esteem, enhances personal growth and builds social skills leading to self-sufficiency.

What a donation buys:
• $250 pays for a three-hour introductory counseling session with a client, including skills assessment and job search tips.
• $1,000 provides four clients with 12 hours of customized one-on-one counseling.
• $10,000 pays for five laptop computers to be used for training courses and client applications at monthly job club meetings.
Volunteer opportunities:
• One day: Help clients complete online job or training applications or assist in the administrative office.
• Weekly: Tutor clients for the GED test, ESOL classes, job skills or computer and typing instruction. Act as an on-the-job or workplace mentor.
