Where Bethesda-area high school graduates applied to college and where they were accepted
Editor's Note: This is a corrected version of the chart. The version that appeared in the September/October issue of Bethesda Magazine had the wrong data for the following schools: Walt Whitman, Thomas Wootton, Winston Churchill and Montgomery Blair.
The following is a list of the colleges and universities where 2013 graduates from six Bethesda-area high schools applied and where they were accepted.
The high schools that provided the data are: Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walt Whitman and Walter Johnson in Bethesda; Winston Churchill in Potomac; Thomas S. Wootton in Rockville; and Montgomery Blair in Silver Spring. Because the acceptance information was selfreported by the graduates, officials at the schools stress that they cannot verify its accuracy. Also, every school except Blair deletes from its applied list students who withdrew their applications, and every school besides Blair and Whitman deletes from the applied list students who did not complete their applications. This data is reflected in the chart below. Because Churchill only included those schools with four or more applicants and Whitman only included those with three or more, we have designated their numbers as nonapplicable (N/A) in certain places.
For brevity’s sake, we limited the list to colleges and universities with at least seven applicants from the combined high schools.
