Children's National Health System President and CEO Dr. Kurt Newman and announcer Keira D'Amato congratulated Jeng Hsu of Bethesda, MD this past weekend as the top individual fundraiser of the first annual Race for Every Child held this past weekend at Freedom Plaza in DC.

Hsu – mother of Jaiwen Hsu, a freshman at Walt Whitman High School and bone cancer survivor who recently underwent more leg surgery this past summer – raised close to $10,000 as part of her family's team, the Jai-Walkers.

The family walked the 5K race with young Jaiwen, who crossed the finish line to cheers from friends. The Race for Every Child 5K event drew more than 3,900 runners/walkers and has raised more than $665,094 to date, with the goal of reaching $850,000 by December 31, 2013.
