Italian and French stars were aligned in Chevy Chase on Friday, October 19, 2012 for the opening of the first flagship Calligaris store in the United States.

Mr. Alessandro Calligaris, whose grandfather founded the company in 1923, came from Italy for the event. The company now sells in 90 countries throughout the world, and is 40% owned by the French based LVHM (Louis Vuitton Hennessy Moet) brand.

Members of both Embassies came to launch this store, which features functional, elegant modern furnishings at competitive prices and has had the good fortune to grow in challenging economic times.

Mr. Lorenzo Galanti, Head of the Economic, Commercial and Scientific Affairs Office of the Embassy of Italy, was there as well as Mme. Catherine Albertini, who arrived a month ago to become the Cultural Attache of the Embassy of France as well as the Director of the dynamic Maison Francaise.

Red and white balloons, the company colors, decorated the showroom and greeted those who had braved the winds and rains of the evening to attend.
