Right light: The office is the only room Polly left completely white, noting its walls of windows, glass doors and large transoms that flood the space on three sides with natural light. Adding to the light: A white desk and file cabinets from Ballard Designs, a glass-topped table and metal-frame chairs from before she got married, and a pale Swedish wash basin (not pictured) she inherited from her father. She kept the original dark beadboard ceiling and stained the floors dark to match the rest of the house.
