Junior Detective Day is a joint effort between the Gaithersburg Police Department and the Kentlands Mansion. This program was created so that children are comfortable approaching Police Officers for help, educate them with what Police Officers do, safety awareness and general knowledge of law enforcement.

This year children were able to meet McGruff the Crime Dog as well as be a part of a staged crime scene. They were given tools on how to recognize when something is out of place and what to do in case of emergency.

In addition they explored police cars and had a K-9 demonstration. They were also able to view the equipment that is on a police belt.

It was a great afternoon that ended with the Police Chief of Gaithersburg swearing them in as Junior Detectives.
