When Don Goodwin arrived at Felice Minahan’s home in Silver Spring, he did so in style. A friend had set up the pair on a blind date, and Don and his friend showed up in a limo wearing black suits and shades and carrying fake machine guns. Don says the idea was to look like they were a security detail picking up a VIP. But Felice remembers thinking: Good God, what have I gotten myself into? The limo ferried them to bars all over town, and they discovered they had a lot in common. “I had to laugh at his bravado,” says Felice, now 47 and a part-time researcher at Georgetown University. “It was one of the most fun nights I can remember.” Three years later, she married her gangster of love. He’s now 51 and an information technology executive for ByteGrid. The couple lives in Chevy Chase, D.C., with their four daughters, ages 9 to 15.
