Francesca Maringelli and Frank Pellegrino were both born in Rome, though one was Rome, N.Y., and the other, Rome, Italy. They met at Holy Trinity Theater in Georgetown during the Washington Savoyards’ performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. Frank was playing cello in the orchestra, and Francesca was a soprano in the chorus. “Frank ran off with a chorus girl,” Francesca jokes. “During our 15 years with the Washington Savoyards, a number of cast members met, fell in love and got married. We didn’t need” The Kensington couple honeymooned in Italy and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in France in 2011. Francesca, 51, is the founder of the Catholic Coalition for Special Education; Frank, 55, is a software architect for IBM and an amateur cellist. The Pellegrinos have a 20-year-old son.
