Women’s boutique Knits Etc., which has changed locations on Bethesda Avenue at least three times in the past few years, vacated its space last week at 4840 Bethesda Ave. with plans to possibly open in the Friendship Heights/Chevy Chase area, according to a store employee at the Pentagon City location.

A new Drybar blowout salon will take over the former Knits Etc. space on Bethesda Row this fall. The Los Angeles-based shop offers six different shampoo and blowdry options for a $40 flat fee.

Meanwhile, Potomac Pilates is opening a second location at The Shops at Wisconsin Place in Chevy Chase.

The Pilates studio, which has a location at the Potomac Tennis Center, is looking to open at 5604 Wisconsin Ave. (right above Whole Foods) in early September, according to marketing VP Catherine Calabrese.

She says owner Reina Offutt Pratt plans to expand the business into D.C. next year.

Downtown Silver Spring will lose pet shop Living Ruff at the end of the month. The Georgia Avenue store is closing, according to Silver Spring Patch, because owners Ron and Jessica Simon are expecting their first “(human) child” this fall.

They announced the news in an email saying that “it’s the best decision” for the family to let the store go.
