Bethesda Cares Inc.
Bethesda Cares Inc. responds to the needs of the homeless and impoverished residents in the county.
Its Bethesda office serves as a day shelter for about 1,500 homeless individuals and families annually; offering food, clothing and a place where they can receive mail, make phone calls or use a computer for a job search. Social workers provide counseling, psychiatric treatment and assistance with housing, prescriptions and job applications to enable clients to end their homelessness.

What a donation buys:
• $250 helps provide cash assistance for clients’ utility payments.
• $1,000 covers move-in costs when a formerly homeless person is placed in permanent housing.
• $10,000 builds a new shower facility, or provides operating support for Bethesda Cares programs.
Volunteer opportunities: (SSL)
• One day: Participate in the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk benefiting Bethesda Cares, or make casseroles for the lunch program.
• Weekly: Assist at Bethesda Cares’ lunch program or in its administrative office.
