Gaithersburg council to discuss Lakeforest Mall property
The Gaithersburg City Council is scheduled on Monday to discuss negotiations with the South Carolina-based developer WRS Inc, which recently acquired the city’s Lakeforest Mall property. The city has agreed to delay action on a development moratorium until Sept. 3 in order to facilitate discussions with the developer about the future of the property.
The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall at 31 S. Summit Ave.
County procurement office to hold open house
The Montgomery County Office of Procurement will hold an open house Wednesday morning in Rockville for the public to learn about doing business with the county. The event will include information on the Minority Female Disabled (MFD), Local Small Business Reserve (LSBRP), Living Wage and the Prevailing Wage programs.
The free event begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at 255 Rockville Pike, Suite 180.
Thursday is deadline for tributes for overdose, prevention vigil
Montgomery County’s fourth annual Overdose and Prevention Vigil will be on Aug. 29. The event raises awareness of overdose and drug-related deaths.
To prepare, organizers are giving those who have lost a loved one to an overdose an opportunity to submit photos to be memorialized as part of a video tribute. Those wishing to participate may submit up to eight photos with the deceased person’s name, date of birth and date of death.
Submissions are due Aug. 22 and can be made to email@example.com.
