Metro service was suspended for about an hour on the Red Line Tuesday morning between the Friendship Heights and Van Ness stops due to a “track problem,” according to Metro officials.

A possible insulator fire was reported around 9 a.m. outside the Tenleytown Metro stop. The track was shut down while crews investigated. Shuttle buses were available for riders between the affected stations.

At approximately 10 a.m., Metro officials announced service had been restored, but delays in both directions were expected throughout the morning.
