Evans Re-Elected as School Board President
Wolff elected vice president
Shebra Evans, left, was re-elected on Tuesday as president of the Montgomery County Board of Education. Brenda Wolff, right, was elected as vice president.
Shebra Evans will serve a second consecutive term as president of the Montgomery County Board of Education. She was re-elected to another one-year term in a unanimous vote Tuesday.
Evans, of Silver Spring, is up for re-election to her board seat in 2020 and has served as board president since December 2018.
“We have a very smart and very thoughtful board, and I appreciate the opportunities to share and … deliberate on topics that are important to the school district,” Evans said.
Evans previously served as vice president of the board and is on the Maryland Association of Boards of Educations’ Board of Directors. She has two children who attend Montgomery County schools.
In another unanimous vote, first-term board member Brenda Wolff was elected as vice president of the eight-person board, also for one year.
Wolff, also of Silver Spring, will replace Pat O’Neill as vice president.
Wolff ran unopposed in 2018 for the District 5 seat on the board.
She is the school board’s representative to the Maryland Association of Boards of Education’s Legislative Committee.
